Reviewer Guidelines

Loading...

Criminal Law and Criminal Justice Books welcomes reviews of interesting and important books on criminal law and criminal justice, broadly defined, both scholarly and of more general interest.  We do not review paperback reissues or revised editions (unless they contain substantial new material). We aim to publish reviews of books published within the last two years.

If you would like to propose a review for CL&CJ Books, please contact the editors:

James Finckenauer (Criminal Justice): finckena@andromeda.rutgers.edu
Stuart Green (Criminal Law and Procedure): sgreen@kinoy.rutgers.edu

We publish two kinds of reviews: full reviews and reviews in brief. Full reviews should be 1,500 to 2,000 words in length; reviews in brief should be approximately 500 words.

We have no specific guidelines regarding the content of reviews other than that they be well-informed, well-written, and fair.

Regarding form, please follow these guidelines:

  • Please do not use footnotes in the review. If references are absolutely necessary, they should be included in the body of the review. A list of references may appear at the end of the review.
  • All reviews should be single spaced, unjustified, and no indent at the start of a paragraph.
  • At the top of the review, include: book title, author name, publisher, year published, and reviewer name. At the bottom of the review, please include information on your current position (name, title, institution).
  • If you would like to have a link to your own website included, please include that information in the body of your email when sending your review to your editor.
